Adv Emergency Med Tech Initial


Summary

This Emergency Medical Services (EMS) credential-related course must adhere to the most current guidelines established by the NC Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) as applicable to this initial Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course. This may include, but not be limited to, OEMS Education Institution approval, program director and instructor standards, classroom and distance education course approval, admissions requirements, course content, equipment standards, clinical and/or field requirements, and skills documentation. OEMS guidelines align with the rules of the NC Medical Care Commission and standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Teaching-learning methods in this course may include, but are not limited to, assigned readings, presentations, discussion, case study review, critical thinking exercises, labs, online and in-class activities. Student will regularly be evaluated through quizzes, written exams, scenario-based exams, and assignments.

Requirements

       Successful completion of EMS-3200 (Introduction for ALS Providers) from Alamance Community College.

       Students must be certified at a minimum level of EMT prior to participation in the clinical education phase of the course. Student who fail to obtain their EMT (NC/NREMT) certification by the scheduled clinical orientation will be dropped from the program.

       Students must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency.

       Successful completion of college-level English, or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college-level English. Placement by RISE without the use of a written assessment will not meet this requirement.

       Successful completion of college-level Math, or within the previous 12 months complete a written assessment placing the individual into college-level Math. Placement by RISE without the use of a written assessment will not meet this requirement.

 

       The student must be 18 years of age on or before the official end of course.
