Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician course prepares the EMT student to provide prehospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMTs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, and special considerations for working in the prehospital setting. This course adheres to the NCOEMS curriculum and National Educational Standards.

EMT Course Prerequisites:
● Possession of a high school diploma, high school equivalency or successful completion of an exam assessing basic reading comprehension skills at a minimum at the eleventh-grade level.
● The student must be 17 years of age on or before the official end of the course.
Required Equipment:
● A laptop, tablet, and/or smartphone. Laptops may be checked out through the ACC Library.
● Stethoscope (recommended)
● Watch with second hand
● Pen & notepad
Required Uniform:
● Class Polo Shirt
● Black or Blue EMT Duty Pants
● Black Boots
● Black Belt
We will schedule a uniform fitting date. All uniforms must be ordered and paid for by August 26, 2025. Additional information will be provided at a later date.
