Blacksmithing

Summary

Learn the lost art of blacksmithing. Work with a blacksmith to design your own steel and iron tools, metal sculptures, and other projects by learning the foundational techniques of blacksmithing. This beginner course will introduce the blacksmith shop, cover tools and their uses, basic anvil and hammer techniques, and the forging process.

Students will learn the foundational techniques of blacksmithing: safety techniques, tools and equipment, and assembly and finishing techniques. Students will gain hands-on experience in the class.

Requirements

Students will need closed toed shoes and proper dress for the blacksmithing environment, which at times can be extremely hot - when around the forge.
